"I only went out for a walk, and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in." -from John of the Mountains: The Unpublished Journals of John Muir Along the Silver Trail is inspired by backpacking in the wilderness. I created this book sculpture from the scenes I came across while making camp at the end of the days hike in order to understand the region. Through these wilderness sojourns I learned respect for the natural world, the impact of human footprints in sensitive and interdependent ecosystems, and gratitude to be a guest in the home of creatures that are often thought pests and threats.
